Resources

Want to contact your politicians, but don’t have the time, don’t know what to say, or don’t like to use the phone? Here’s some great resources to not only make those contacts, but be informed about the current issues worth commenting on.

5 Calls

Available on the web or as a phone app, https://5calls.org makes it easy to call your representatives. Simply give it your location and it knows who to call. It has a long list of current issues, and gives you a sample script for each issue.

(Pro tip: Many offices are closed in the afternoon, so if you’d rather leave a message than talk to a person, call later in the day! DO remember to leave your zip code and/or address, so they tally your call as a constituent.)

Resistbot

This allows you to text/fax/email your representatives, either from the website resist.bot, or directly from your messages. To get started, text the word RESIST to 50409 on your mobile phone (message/data rates will apply). Apple users can shift the conversation to Apple Messages to avoid text fees, or anyone can just use the chat feature on the website.
The accompanying app shows you current topics which lets you choose a topic directly. Have a look at their website for the full explanation.
